Meet The Street Style Stars Who Chill Outside BAPE All Day and Somehow Afford Head To Toe Designer

Their motives are unknown.

New York Street Style

Despite the weather and the out of towners flooding into the neighborhood this past week, you can always count on the cool kids of SoHo to maintain the grungy street style blitz with heaps of bright colors and whatever Virgil Abloh has been on lately. Today we are traveling downtown to investigate the cognitive behaviors and innovative styles of this very special breed of New Yorkers. Whether they are taking fit pics, smoking blunts or blasting their underground music, these kids are here to stay for at least five hours just vibing, decked out in outfits that would be unacceptable in any other part of the country. Members of the subculture, unsure of what being a hype beast exactly does for them, seem to be investing in social media with the hopes of their influence blowing up and getting a few free pieces instead of husting on the sneaker black market.

Connor, founder and CEO of Streetwear Brand Mood, 20

“I always wear a Prada piece because no one can tell me no. They might not like you, but they have to let you in. It has power to it”

Juan- Sneakerhead, 23

“I don’t even know if the shit I’m wearing is released yet, don’t ask me how I got it”

Roxie- Aspiring Fashion Designer, 18

“Literally our fashion is about escapism, but the exclusivity of brands adds an awesome twist. We just want to transport people.”

Steve, Concierge working at one of the hotels kids hang out in front of, 31

“It used to be just high school kids back in the day but it’s insane how many adults we see around here these days. If they are not lined up in front of BAPE or Supreme, they are here just doing nothing.”
